Exceptional Patient Comfort
We take great pride in our efforts to
make you feel comfortable and relaxed when
sitting in our chair. We understand
that many people have anxiety about visiting
the dentist, and we strive to make the
experience easy, comfortable, and even
enjoyable!
Your First Visit
Your first appointment will be with Dr.
Rouff. He wants to meet you to discuss
your needs and what he can do to make your
dental care comfortable and anxiety-free.
He will ask you about your past medical and
dental history as well as questions about
any problems you may be experiencing.
He will perform a comprehensive dental
examination and talk with you about what
x-ray films and other diagnostic aids he
recommends. Your first dental hygiene
appointment will be made at the conclusion
of your new patient examination.
The following list includes a few of the
options we have to keep our patients
comfortable:
Nitrous Oxide
What we call "happy air" is an odorless,
tasteless gas that reduces anxiety. The
amount you receive is closely regulated so that
you cannot fall asleep (unless you are really
tired), but you will feel relaxed.
Overhead TV
A television is mounted over the head of
the patient chair so that you can watch and
listen to your choice of channels. We
can also play a movie or TV episode from popular
television series.
Stereo Music
You can choose from a wide variety of
music choices from our 50 disc CD changer,
or are welcome to bring your own music
selection. We will give you headphones so
you can turn the volume up as high as you
like.
Noise Suppressor Earmuffs
Some dental sounds can be disconcerting.
We use noise-canceling earmuffs (originally
intended for use at rifle or pistol ranges)
to cut out the sounds of dentistry. Placed
over stereo headphones, they allow you to hear
only the sounds you choose.
Massager Assisted Injections
Some patients have told us Dr. Rouff deserves
the Nobel Prize for this one. An electric
powered massager is placed near the injection
site. The vibrations definitely serve
to cover up the pinch of injection.
Patient Eye Protection
Safety counts for comfort too and all our
patients are given protective lenses to
prevent eye contamination in the event of
debris. |
